ABOUT BETTY

Betty Galindo is originally from San Francisco, CA, where she grew up doing choir, musical theater, and volleyball. Classical voice has always been part of her life, and the acting scene soon caught her attention.

She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara receiving her BFA in Acting and BA in Communications. She has trained at the two-time Tony award-winning Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, where she participated in the Theatermakers Intensive program alongside playwrights, actors, and other creatives.

During her time at UC Santa Barbara she mainly studied under Annie Torsiglieri, Irwin Appel, Julie Fishell, and Michael Morgan. One of her mentors, Daniel Stein, was trained by Etienne Decroux, the father of corporeal mime. Betty also trained with Grammy nominated, Isabel Bayrakdarian, at UC Santa Barbara in the Classical Voice department. She has studied various acting and vocal techniques, with such a driven and diversely talented faculty at UCSB. 

While at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, she became a recipient of the Miranda Family FellowshipThis is a distinct award by Lin Manuel Miranda and the Miranda Family. This scholarship is for artists of color who have exhibited exceptional passion, drive, and unique points of view in various artistic mediums. She is thankful for her Miranda Fellow family, including her mentors Destiny Lilly, Cesar A Rocha, Betsy Fippinger, and Karen Olivo.

Betty has trained and done numerous independent film projects in LA while also working on her improv chops at The Groundlings. She studied drama and comedy with Lesly Kahn & Co. in Los Angeles, CA and continues her training at The Acting Studio Madrid located in Madrid, Spain.

A notable mention, Betty Galindo starred in the independent short-film “Cigarettes After Dark,” which was nominated as “Best Short” and premiered at the Beverly Hills Films Festival and Mexican-American Television & Film Festival.
